My Fitness Journey or 'How to Get a Hot Body'

Well, I did it girls. I took my weights up a kilo for the pump class! Ok, I know it doesn't sound like much, especially when I am looking around and the slimmest girls in the room are lifting the heaviest weights - further proof lifting weights doesn't make you bulky.

Anyway, it did feel like a bit more than just one extra kilo. The squat / lunge series of which there is about 10 minutes had me shaking like a leaf as usual. OUCH! Then came arms, I love to workout my arms, but the extra kilo really hit me... 16 push ups followed by 3x16 reps of barbell chest presses, followed by 3x16 reps of dumb-bell chest presses - then repeat this entire series again - twice. By the second series of push ups I managed 8 before having to take a break and by the third series I got to only 4 before physically collapsing face down on the gym carpet. Only know do I realise how gross that is - at the time I was just too damn pooped to care. ICK!

The whole time the perky instructor was smiling serenely around the room like a proud mum as we all grunted, groaned and sweated our way through it. I've never seen anyone look like Mother Theresa while pumping iron before.  She is amazing. Then she says how much she enjoys the fact that her kids are back at school and I look at her flat, ripped abs and think "Really?? Not just one but several babies were in there?" She really is inspirational.

I was supposed to get up and do yoga thismorning to stretch it all out, but my bed was just waaaaay too comfortable and I felt as happy as a wee buddha curled up in dreamland so I hit snooze several times. Oops.

Nevermind, tonight I have kickboxing where I get to open a can of whoopass on the bag.

When I left the gym last night it was a torrential downpour which was pretty funny. Here's the irony, the traffic is so bad (go AUCKLAND! GRRR) that I have to park ages away from my gym 'cos it's faster to walk. Gave my system a helluva shock running on my shaky muscles all the way back to the car. Ha! Perhaps will take an umbrella next time...
