Well I had a busy Estara and had to make heaps of chocolate bunnies and eggs.
I also made Estara cupcakes with the help of my partners teen. In fact she ended up doing most of the cupcakes with pointers from me.
Just for anyones info Estara dates back to before christianity and is the celebration of the Goddess Estara which over the years ended up as Eastera and then Easter.
The eggs are used to symbolise rebirth and the never ending cycle of birth, growth, death then birth again. chickens eggs have been given on the days that celebrate Estara for centuries. Over time they started to be decorated to make them look pretty. Now days we also have icing and chocolate eggs and bunnies to hand out to loved ones
The bunnies represent fertility, theres not many people who don't know the saying breed like rabbits. In the old days an actual bunny was given to everyone of breeding age to help them to be fertile.
Cup Cakes
Ingredients.
1 cup plain flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ cup caster sugar
80g butter, melted
2 eggs
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon milk
¾ cup chocolate chips of your choice
Chocolate Chip Cupcakes Recipe
Vanilla Cupcake Recipe
You can leave the chocolate chips out of this recipe to make a vanilla cupcake base. Also because the mix now contains chocolate chips it will make a few more cupcakes. You can also add the chocolate chip to the chocolate cupcakes recipe to make double chocolate cupcakes.
I used butter icing which is basically butter or marg and icing sugar.
