ImageMany pregnant women find that as their baby grows, their sex life begins to dwindle away. Between morning sickness, fatigue, and general achiness, it can be difficult to even think of sex - much less plan and initiate a lovemaking session. Keeping the passion alive in your relationship can be done, however, by putting a few of these tips into action.

Many pregnant women find that as their baby grows, their sex life begins to dwindle away. Between morning sickness, fatigue, and general achiness, it can be difficult to even think of sex - much less plan and initiate a lovemaking session. Keeping the passion alive in your relationship can be done, however, by putting a few of these tips into action.

Safe Sex
Unless your doctor has told you otherwise, sex during pregnancy is perfectly safe and will not harm your baby. First time fathers, however, are often uncomfortable with the idea of sex during pregnancy for fear of hurting the baby. If your partner has these concerns, encourage him to speak with your obstetrician to alleviate his concerns.

Concentrate on Contact
Although it may be difficult to get in the mood, encourage sexual contact with your partner even if you don't feel like going all the way. Casual sexy touches can help you both to feel appreciated, and may go a long way to keeping the spark alive. Take the time to kiss, touch, and feel intimate, even if you aren't feeling up to intercourse. Your partner will still feel that he is important to you, and you'll be more likely to be in the mood as well.

Try Something New
As your belly grows, you may find that your favourite positions are less than comfortable. Now may be the time to research alternative positions that take the pressure off your stomach. If you're feeling adventurous, consider purchasing a copy of the Kama Sutra, The Joy of Sex, or a book written specifically for pregnant women. Learning something new with your partner may be more fun than you ever imagined!

Focus on Your Comfort
Above all, keep your sense of humour and remember that this is a short season of your life. Soon, you'll have your old body back and the aches and pains will be a not-so pleasant memory. For now, however, focus on positions and types of lovemaking that are comfortable for you. Work with your partner to develop an understanding of why you may not be in the mood, and encourage him to express his feelings to you as well, so that you can help him work through them. After all, you're about to embark on one of the biggest adventures of your life - working together is important!
