1.       They blow hot and cold. One second they’re all over you, the next minute you’re having a long distance relationship with their voicemail.

2.       They’re over 30 and have never been in a long term relationship, besides the one with their mum.

3.       They’re love junkies. They jump from one relationship to the next, leaving behind a strong of short term relationships, affairs or broken engagements.

4.       They believe they have lots of time to settle down and have a family. Watch for comments such as “Of course, I’d like to have children one day, but what’s the rush?”

5.       They have not been loyal to past partners, either breaking it off for weak reasons such as her liking cats while he is a confirmed dog person – or being unfaithful.

6.       They’re still pining over their ex. A guy who rants and raves about the ex that broke his heart into a thousand pieces has love or infatuation on the mind. Unfortunately for you this is one instance where three is a crowd.

7.       They don’t allow the relationship to develop and deepen by keeping secrets, putting off dates, finding excuses to move country, not returning your phone calls, or avoiding every opportunity to meet your close friends or family.

8.       They are not giving the relationship as much priority as a night out with their friends.

9.       They wince, change the subject or remember their grandmother’s birthday every time somebody mentions marriage

10.   They don’t realise that the relationship is exclusive. They treat you as a casual fling, with their biggest commitment allowing you to leave your toothbrush at their house.

11.   They’re still seeing someone, married or are yet to sign their divorce papers.
