gifts_he_will_love.jpgTraditional things such as flowers and chocolates can be out the window with the cost of living, but it doesn't mean you can't show him how much you love him, without breaking the bank…

With the cost of living on the rise, costs are being cut every which way and normal routes of showing your affection to your partner are no different. If the days of the expensive cologne, or huge bouquets of flowers are gone, then where to go from here?

What are some other low cost, simple ways that can still be used to show affection?

Send a postcard. For the cost of the card and a stamp you can send your other half a wonderful little token of love. Even better, print of a postcard sized photo of the two of you on a special day and send it.

Perhaps it is a little cliche, but you can also choose to include a little love note in with their lunch. This can be a great pick me up in the middle of a rough work day.

Make a small scrapbook of special times together. Use some photos you already have or print some off and head over to the local two dollar shop to pick up the supplies (most carry a wealth of scrap booking supplies). Wrap it up and leave it for them to find, or present it with dessert after a good home cooked meal.

Pick an affection word. The next time you go out, to the park or somewhere, pick out a word that your honey is sure to say often and every time they say it give them a kiss or a hug and show your love for them.

Movie nights can be too costly these days. That shouldn't stop you from a night at home though. Rent a good movie (or pick one off of the TV), curl up with some homemade munchies and have a special night with the one you love, without breaking the bank.

Go on a picnic. Packing your own lunch can cut down on costs and if you can find a local park within walking distance, you can even forgo the cost of gas, and spend the few extra dollars on a nice treat.

They say the way to a man's heart is through the stomach, so why not bake up a nice platter of his favourite baked foods. If he loves biscuits, bake up a dozen heart shaped cookies and slowly feed them to him. Add some extra fun to it and blindfold him and give him small bites of each and get him to guess what you have baked for him.

Showing our affection doesn't have to cost the world, but it sure can mean the world to those we love.
