ImageJet'aime raves about the Gloss Suzuki team wheels...

I love driving. While my fondness for driving does not extend to Auckland city peak traffic hours, to me it is so much fun cranking the stereo and heading off on a road trip. I must say that I feel very lucky because the Suzuki SX4 2.0 Sedan is my daily drive for work. I had never driven a brand new car before we got these gorgeous company cars and with all the modcons included with this one, it’s a sheer pleasure to drive.

My mother describes it as a ‘zippy little thing’ and she’s quite right, I’m used to driving a fairly gutsy car, so I was really impressed with the get up and go of the Suzuki. Better still, despite it accelerating without any dramas when you need it to, the fuel economy (an ironic statement in itself these days) isn’t too shabby either – it sits at around 9.5L/100km.

The boot is big enough for all the groceries and a few other shopping splurges, or in my case… an entire spare wardrobe, including shoes and hats. Speaking of space, my 6 foot 2 husband usually complains at lack of legroom, but he doesn’t mind sitting in the Suzuki as there is a surprising amount of space.

There are also some nifty little security features that can make a woman travelling by herself feel a whole lot safer. For example, push ‘unlock’ on the central locking just once to unlock the driver’s door only, and push twice if you have passengers getting in the other doors. Easy. The interior light comes on when you unlock it too, so it’s easy enough to check that there are no bad guys hiding on the back seat before you get in!

Just because I consider myself a 5 star driver, doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the added benefits of the safety features also – there are six airbags in this puppy (dual front, side and curtain) as well as ABS with EBD (electronic brake force distribution). And for those who find their speedo getting a little out of control on motorway excursions, the cruise control feature takes the stress out of checking you are within the limit.

Of course being a woman I do like things to look nice… Naturally the silver appeals to me, as does the leather steering wheel - very stylish, but made even better by the fact that I can change the CD track or the radio station or adjust the volume at the touch of a button on the steering wheel. Love that feature!

It’s safe to say the Suzuki has spoiled me. It is such an enjoyable drive with so many thoughtful touches it would be hard to go back to another car.
