AlisonYay, winter’s finally here! While I love all the seasons, I especially look forward to winter and the hearty food I can share with family and friends. There’s also that crisp, cool night air!

Once I leave the kitchen behind for the day my next favourite room in the house is the bedroom. In fact, mine has just been through a makeover and complete with a four-poster that you have to jump in to get in, it’s just about perfection.

I have a few tips for making the most of the season in the bedroom (and there’s nothing saucy about them – excuse the pun!)

While it’s not necessary to redecorate the whole bedroom, you can certainly have fun and change the look of your room to suit your mood without spending a fortune. I’m proud to work with The Warehouse Homewares team, and delighted to stand by their range of quality products as they’re stylish, versatile and affordable.

Picture FramesWhen you’re looking to refresh your bedroom, I’d suggest:

  • Stick to one simple colour for sheets , use your duvet , throw and pillowcases for a splash of colour.

  • Try to choose a duvet set that suits the existing decor yet embraces the personality of the bedroom inhabitant too.

  • Don’t forget gorgeous picture frames to show off your kids and moments of your life that make you smile.

  • And last but not least, vases for fresh flowers!

This winter, I’m excited about those rich natural tones of green and chocolate brown as they’re just so warm and cozy. The earthy colours will create a real haven for you to relax in.

Natural

Another fabulous colour theme for winter is the use of jewel colours to warm your heart, such as dark reds and plums. These colours will create a special touch to your bedroom. You will love to indulge in a Sunday morning sleep in with a bedroom decked out in these colours.

Plum

I invite you to discover the Maison D’Or Manchester range. In keeping with the colour trends this season, their collection offers the beautiful natural greens and browns, and those deep reds and plums for that warm winter richness. Whether you are looking for a duvet , a throw , cushions or even some curtains to adorn your room, Maison d’Or has everything you need!

Duvet

  • Make sure you freshen up feather duvets or pillows as you use them throughout the winter. A quick trip to the drycleaner or a spell outside in the fresh air and sun on a good day will keep them odour free and fluffy.

  • Look after your linen. Wash with good quality washing powder or liquid. Air dry if possible and make sure they are dry when you put them away in the airing cupboard!

  • Duvet inners for both winter and summer are essential. Clean, air and store them away in airtight containers when not in use.

  • Thermal lined curtains to keep the heat in (winter) and the sun out (summer)

Make the most of winter. Create a little haven of luxury in your bedroom with The Warehouse and you’ll thank me for it!

Thanks for the tips , there was a good one that you missed. Last year I got myself a woolen underlay from the Warehouse. Best purchase ever! My bed is now far more snug, comfy and warm in winter and it has a reversible side for summer :D
