Yay, winter’s finally here! While I love all the seasons, I especially look forward to winter and the hearty food I can share with family and friends. There’s also that crisp, cool night air!

Once I leave the kitchen behind for the day my next favourite room in the house is the bedroom. In fact, mine has just been through a makeover and complete with a four-poster that you have to jump in to get in, it’s just about perfection.

I have a few tips for making the most of the season in the bedroom (and there’s nothing saucy about them – excuse the pun!)

While it’s not necessary to redecorate the whole bedroom, you can certainly have fun and change the look of your room to suit your mood without spending a fortune. When you’re looking to refresh your bedroom, I’d suggest:

• Stick to one simple colour for sheets , use your duvet , throw and pillowcases for a splash of colour.

• And last but not least, vases for fresh flowers!

• Make sure you freshen up feather duvets or pillows as you use them throughout the winter. A quick trip to the drycleaner or a spell outside in the fresh air and sun on a good day will keep them odour free and fluffy.

• Look after your linen. Wash with good quality washing powder or liquid. Air dry if possible and make sure they are dry when you put them away in the airing cupboard!
