What is your Relationship with Money?

your-relationship-with-money.jpgMoney is not the paper in your wallet or the coins in your purse. It is not the numbers sitting in your bank account, waiting to be used one day. Money does not care how smart you are, what kind of house you live in, what your background is, or who your parents are.

Money is a form of energy and your thoughts determine the relationship you have with it. The energy of money is infinite and only limited by the thoughts you place on it. This means when you think big and really believe there is enough to go around you are tapped into that infinite source of energy and attracting money to you – ask any wealthy person and they will tell you this is part of their belief system. Likewise, negative thoughts such as believing there is never enough, that money “doesn’t grow on trees” i.e. doesn’t come easy and in abundance come from a place of limitation and those thoughts will of course create that energy.

So how can you attract infinite money into your life? The answer is to create value through activity. Focus on creating value for others through ideas, take action to develop those ideas, and money - because it is energy, is naturally attracted to you. Are you open to the flow of money and abundance? Do you readily receive from those around you and give gratitude for what you already have? These actions create value so allow the energy of giving and receiving to flow freely.

It’s not about buying “things” to make you happy/fill a void or locking money away to “save it for a rainy day”. Money loves to replicate and grow, creating more energy within the universe so ensure your relationship with money is about thriving not just about surviving. Money is attracted to people who respect and value it and avoids those who feel a sense of entitlement, take it for granted, or become complacent with it.

The following exercise can assist you in discovering what your relationship with money is. Write a letter to “money” – you will be surprised at what you have to say.
Here are some guidelines to get you started:
What do I REALLY think/feel about you?
What positive and negative thoughts do I have of you?
What beliefs have I learnt from others: family, friends & partner?
Am I currently surviving or thriving?
How can I create value within the universe with you?
What action does that require?
How can we get to know each other better?

Whatever you believe money to be, it is. So ask yourself “does money make me miserable or enable me to flourish and make my dreams reality?
