tmpGWawC1.jpgWe have all had the unexpected happen when we are out and about - broken a strap, laddered a stocking or lost a button. But with a Fashion First Aid kit, you can take these mishaps in your stride....

Here's a list of the must-have items that you may want to keep in your purse or your car to help you navigate even the most unexpected fashion emergencies.

Safety Pin
No woman should be without a safety pin in her handbag. There are few problems it can't fix - a broken bra strap, a small piece of fallen hem, a snapped necklace clasp.

Sewing Kit
Keep as many of those small sewing kits you get from hotels and always keep one for a fashion emergency.

Clear Nail Polish
A small bottle of clear nail polish (try $2 shops for a small one you can fit in your purse) can save you from many fashion accidents. A small dab stops ladders in pantyhose from getting bigger, can re-attach a wayward false nail, will stop an unraveling threads (especially on buttons threatening to fall off) and if you apply it to new leather shoes the night before you start wearing them, can prevent driver's heel and scuffed toes.

Fashion Tape
Fashion Tape is a wonder product for helping wrap skirts stay wrapped, straps stay hidden and low cut necklines stay where you want them. But you can also use the double-stick adhesive to mend a fallen hem or small tears in fabric, and because it leaves no residue, it is the perfect addition to your fashion first aid kit.

A Vivid
Nicked your leather bag, shoes or belt? Carefully touch up the area with a matching colored Vivid.

Baby Wipes
If you get a pocket packet of baby wipes you can use them to remove make-up stains, dirt from shoes and as an emergency fix for run mascara, foundation ruined by sweat or to quickly swab damp armpits.

A rubber
The backing of your earring has fallen on the dance floor and it's nowhere to be found. Simply use the rubber off the end of a pencil and push the bar of the earring into it. You'll be good to dance the night away.

A pen
Snags in jumpers can be easily fixed by using a closed pen to push pulled threads back through the inside of the garment. Tie it in a quick knot and you're good to go.

Nail Polish Remover
Got some patent leather shoes that have scuffed? Simply wipe at the scuff mark with nail polish remover and it should come up like new.

Always remember that while emergency remedies are invaluable, averting disasters is the best way to go.
