sunglasses-trends.jpgSummer is here, and that has the FashioNZ team thinking about the must-have accessory for the summer months: sunglasses.  Sunglasses are an easy way to update your look and instantly add glamour to an outfit.  Here are their picks for the hottest trends in sunglasses this season.

Cat’s Eye
The ultimate in retro-chic, cat’s eye sunnies have been seen gracing many famous faces, from Michelle Williams to Lady Gaga.

Oversized
This style is nothing new, but in the last few years, it has become apparent that oversized sunnies are here to stay.  We're definitely a fan of the oversized style – it gives you that touch of celebrity-style glamour (plus they’re great to hide behind if you’re feeling a bit under the weather after a late night!)  We love these styles from Michael Kors, available exclusively at Visique.

Prints
It’s not often that prints are featured on eyewear, but when they do, they make a real statement.  This season, prints have been used on the front of sunglasses, as well as inside, for a fresh look.

Created by US graffiti artist Matt Moore, this unisex frame is part of Ray-Ban’s Rare Prints collection. Show your true colours with this bold, geometric print – exclusive to Sunglass Hut.

Inspired by the adventures of Alice in Wonderland, Versace has produced a collection of sunglasses featuring a ‘visual whirl’ of dazzling mini patterns. In this collection, the print has been used all over the sunglasses, on the temples, and inside the frames.

Transparency
This trend is all about soft shapes, colours and textures. Subtle pastels are paired with metal detailing, with the sunglasses in this trend suiting most face shapes and complexions.

Part of Ray-Ban’s Aviator Family, the Road Spirit is a twist on the iconic sunglass model.

The temples on these Tiffany & Co. sunglasses feature the Mesh detail which is so popular in the brand’s jewellery line. Perfect for subtle glam.

Luxury Sport
Following the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the world has gone sports-mad! The influence of sport has been seen on the runway, and brands not traditionally known for their sporty looks have also embraced the styling in their sunglasses.  Blue detail features heavily in this trend.

A key men’s style in the Burberry range is this rectangular frame. The style is available in a range of colour combinations.
