style.jpgWomen want to look and feel good. That is the number one reason why we go shopping… to do just that.  But is retail therapy and buying new clothes really a recipe for style, or does true style come from within, especially as we mature? Susana Sarmiento, style and self-image expert shares how style starts on the mind. The secrets of looking stylish throughout our maturing years can start today!

We live in an information overload age and this constantly swapping of what is in can leave us jaded and overwhelmed. If you can just remember just one thing, remember these simple words “Fashion comes from outside and style comes from within.”

You can feel magnificent in your own skin and have fabulous style at any age.

Number 1 tip - Live in the present!
It’s very simple… recognize who are you today. We tend to live in the past (what we looked like when we were younger/thinner) or the future (once I… lose weight, change jobs, go the gym). So many of us are living in either Reminiscing town or in Hopeland and these beautiful years are passing us by. Who are you TODAY?

Number 2 tip - Embrace your current life transformation
Women’s bodies go through 4-life transformations; our body shape is constantly changing and evolving. We need to embrace each new phase. Grab a marker pen and write down the highlights or your best bits in this current phase (your favourite features etc).
Now take a look at your wardrobe and see which of your clothes bring these parts of you more alive.
After finishing highlighting the positives only then you do you decide which areas you wish for these positive attributes to distract from - not the other way around.

Final Tip 3.  Pick 3 key words that you want your clothes to make you feel today!
This is a wonderful exercise that changes the types of clothes you will gravitate towards next time you shop. For example it could be: Sexy, Adventurous, Slim

So grab next your normal attire you would wear, throw it on the bed and ask yourself, ‘How can I make this outfit more sexy, adventurous and slimming?’

Sexy: even though no-one else can see it, I will feel sexier by wearing some lacy lingerie.
Adventurous: I am going to swap the black shoes and wear a bright colour shoe, or a feature necklace.
Slim: I am going to wear my magic tummy tuckers, add a heel, and place a vertical line, e.g. long necklace

Voila!  You will feel 100% fabulous about yourself today.  We are not holding on to the past or wishing we had arrived at our future goal.

Women who feel good about themselves achieve their goals effortlessly and more swiftly in comparison to those struggling and constantly negating themselves. So why not start getting ahead and achieving your dreams by feeling good about YOU?

The secret of maturing with grace is all about how you feel about yourself today!
