What's in her Handbag? Theresa Brady

theresa-brady.jpgTheresa Brady is one busy lady and for those not familiar with her name she’s the creative brain and talent behind successful labels Sable & Minx and Doosh. Most recently, Theresa has launched a new label called Brad y which she’s co-designed with Rebecca Batley-Alder.

The day we met, Theresa and her team were busy organising the 2011 winter collection launch for Brady taking place that evening. The following day she was flying out to Australia and Asia for work so I was pleasantly surprised when she agreed to meet with me that morning. So what do you think I found in her handbag? Let’s see…..

Do you prefer a small or large handbag?
It has to be a large bag. I always carry everything with me.

Do you have a favourite bag?
Yes. I love my big black Prada bag because the handle fits comfortably when you hold it on your shoulder.  You can also use the long strap to put it across your body.  It’s really comfortable, it’s really soft leather and it’s perfect for when I’m travelling too. I travel a lot for work and it’s great to be able to fit everything I need during the flight into one bag.

Do you have a favourite label or designer you like best?
Prada is definitely my favourite. I have two of their bags, a tan one and this black one. I prefer the one I have today because it’s more comfortable, but I like to have two different colours so I can mix and match them with different outfits.

What can’t you leave home without?
I definitely can’t leave home without my mobile phone. I recently upgraded to the new Nokia N8 and I love it. It’s perfect for me because I can receive all my emails when I’m not in the office and when I’m overseas I can keep up with what’s happening at home easily.

I can also store a lot of music on it, which is important to me. I always carry a packet of tissues, chewing gum, my keys and makeup. In addition, I rely on my Sally Hansen ‘Air Brush Legs’ if I’m going out and need to top up my tan beforehand.

My MP3 connector port goes everywhere with me because I’m addicted to music and wherever I go I end up being the DJ.  I always carry my Tebe moisturiser because I love it and my Nervoheel tablets. The latter is an amazing homeopathic remedy that eases stress and nervousness as well as helping me deal with fatigue.

When I’m travelling I add my passport, obviously, several books, hand sanitiser and my noise cancelling headphones to use on the plane.

What don’t you need?
I probably don’t need this huge motel key but I forgot to return it when I checked out.

What’s the most embarrassing thing to ever fall out of your handbag?
I think the most embarrassing moment would have to be when I landed in trouble at high school. My mother and I were in a meeting with my deputy principal about my naughty behaviour and it was actually going quite well for me because I’d managed to get off everything.

It was when I got up to leave that a packet of cigarettes fell out of my school bag onto the table. It’s quite funny really because it wasn’t smoking that got me into trouble in the first place.
