2011-oscars-fashion.jpgIt's the most important night of the year in Hollywood, so what’s a girl to wear to the Oscars?  The Gloss team breaks down which celebs got it right, and which celebs got it oh-so-wrong.

Best

By far my favourite frock of the night, Mila Kunis looks stunning in her lavender lace Elie Saab gown.  It’s also nice that she’s wearing something completely different from the Golden Globes – she mixes it up and doesn’t wear the same look every time.

halle-oscars.jpgHalle Berry in Marchesa
Halle looks amazing in this form-fitting, nude Marchesa gown – it’s perfect for the Oscars.  The sparkly tulle overlay makes it super glamorous, and Halle’s hair and makeup are also both gorgeous.

This dress has absolutely amazing detailing, especially at the back and highlights how Cate definitely knows a lot more about fashion than a lot of other Hollywood stars.  Amazing.

Michelle’s red carpet looks aren’t always well received, but I’m always a fan of hers, and I love this silver Chanel column dress.  And as always, love her hair and makeup – the pixie cut really elevates her whole look.

Worst

sharon-stone.jpgSharon Stone in Christian Dior

Is it just me, or does Shazza remind anyone else of Cruella Deville in this getup?  She looks quite scary, and her makeup ages her.

nicole-kidman-oscars.pngNicole Kidman in Pierre Hardy
Sadly, after a return to form at the Grammy’s Nicole’s gone back to her bad ways – this dress ages her, and the 90’s prom hair-do isn’t doing her any favours either.  I hate the detailing around the hips too; it gives her a strange shape.

scarlett-johansson.jpgScarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana
Ok, what is up with Scarlett lately? I haven’t liked any of her recent red carpet looks, and this maroon dress looks like a giant doily. Not good.  The shape is quite boxy and matronly, and not at all flattering.

anne-hathaway-oscars.pngAnne Hathaway in Valentino Couture
Apparently, famed stylist Rachel Zoe was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to dress Anne for the Oscars.  And this was the result?  Horrible orangey colour...and it appears to be made of taffeta! Taffeta?  Horrible.  Such a shame as Anne usually gets it so right.
