2011-grammys-fashion.jpgWho rocked and who shocked on the red carpet at the biggest night in music, the Grammys?

Best

Nicole Kidman in Jean-Paul Gaultier

Lately, I’ve felt like Nicole Kidman has lost her fashion mojo – she’s worn some seriously dodgy choices on the red carpet in recent months.  But this dress reminds me of the fierce, stylish red carpet looks she used to wear

Florence Welch in Givenchy Couture
I love Florence’s vintage, slightly quirky style – and this dress is no exception.  The swan detailing is cute and I like how she stayed true to her style, while managing to wear one of the best dresses of the night.

Jennifer Hudson in Versace
I must admit I’m not usually a fan of the mullet dresses, and there were a few on the Grammys red carpet that looked awful, but Jennifer manages to make hers look really elegant and fashion forward!  Love the detailed bodice and the dress fits her perfectly, and the look is offset nicely by her sleek hair.

Lea Michele in Emilio Pucci
Lea looks super sexy in her black lace gown – it’s an edgier look for her and she pulls it off well.

Amber Riley in Ema Savahl
Amber looks funky and fashion forward in this cocktail dress – it fits her perfectly.  She knows how to dress her curves, and the shoulder embellishment is a great addition.

Worst

Rihanna in Jean-Paul Gaultier Couture
Come on, RiRi – be a little less obvious please! I don’t like the slightly-slutty direction she’s heading in.  I know she’s got great taste as she has worn some gorgeous dresses on the red carpet, but I think she needs to heed the advice of a stylist and cover up – too much!

Katy Perry in Armani Prive
Often I quite like Katy’s cute, quirky style but this dress is just way to costumey and weird, even for the Grammys.  Angel wings? Reminds me of the house music events I used to attend when I was 17 – not pretty.

Kim Kardashian in Kaufman Franco
Eww... awful colour! Awful sequins! You’re not J.Lo Kim.  We know you have a great body but this isn’t a sexy look – Kim definitely looks better when she is a bit more subtle.

Jordin Sparks in Zang Toi
Oh no, the dreaded mullet dress.  This has to be my least favourite of the night. Why, WHY, would you wear a cheap looking red satin cocktail dress then attach some sort of train around the waist?  Oh, and the 90’s called and they want their shoes back.

Nicki Minaj in Givenchy Couture
Sorry – Gaga’s already got dibs on wacky red carpet fashion, and it does works for her.  To me, Nicki is just trying way too hard.  She doesn’t look edgy and original in the way Gaga does – I think it’s a knack and you either have it, or you don’t.  She reminds me of Kesha – trying to be edgy and too cool and failing miserably.
