dressing-your-man.jpgIf your partner is anything like my boyfriend, a shopping trip for clothes is very rare.  When he does take the trip, it will involve picking up the nearest shirt he likes from the nearest rail of clothing, moaning about the price and then reluctantly paying for it - the process does not even involve trying it on for size or to check it suits him!

This Christmas, I am planning on buying my boyfriend clothes, and luckily, I have been saved by Trinny and Susannah, the British queens of fashion and body shapes. I recently saw an episode of their show that was entirely devoted to men and how they dress.   Men also have body issues and need us women to help them out when it comes to disguising certain flaws, so the two women took it upon themselves to educate the British males on dressing for their shapes. They even had realistic mannequins of male physiques (and yes that even included beer bellies!)

So if you want to buy your partner some new wardrobe essentials, or just want to drop them some hints, then read the following advice:

For men on the thinner side
Do wear pants that sit on the hip bone

Do wear short sleeved shirts

Do wear skinny jeans

Don't wear horizontal strips

Don't wear contrasting colours

For men with 'man boobs'
Do wear shirts with pockets

Do wear vertical stripes

Do wear prints

Don't wear fine knit jumpers

Don't wear shiny fabrics (footy shirts)

Don't wear vests

For men with that hard-to-shift beer belly
Do wear loose t-shirts

Do wear low-waisted jeans

Do wear darker shirts under lighter tops

Don't wear shirts too short or too long

Don't wear contrasting colours

For men on the shorter side
Do go for continuous colour - blue t-shirt/blue jeans

Do wear vertical stripes

Don't wear white trainers with jeans

Don't wea three-quarter length jackets

Don't wear shirts that are too long or too short
