patriziobuannepatriziobuanne.jpgGloss chats to Patrizio Buanne, the Italian baritone crooner who is melting hearts all over the world… What has been a highlight of your career so far?
I think to have the record sales I have had and be able to travel the world is a highlight for me. I’m pleased that I am still selling records when there is so much downloading and copying of music happening today that the record companies are struggling. Sure I have sung for The Pope, the Royal Family, The President and I have awards but still being able to sell an album is definitely a highlight.

How do you feel about being dubbed the Italian Michael Buble?
It doesn’t bother me but it’s interesting. I think the only reason it has come about is because we are on the same record label. There is Michael Buble, Josh Groban and Patrizio Buanne. My music isn’t very classical so that’s why that don’t say I’m like Josh Groban but every now and then I do a swing or a jazz tune so I get compared to Michael Buble, but before Buble people would compare me to Dean Martin.

Describe your latest album in three words…

Positive, romantic and Patrizio’ish

What is your favourite song on the album?
They are all my favourite songs as it’s a compilation of songs that I love and wanted to record, but if I had to pick it would be track 10 – ‘Why did you have to be’ which was written by Dianne Warren especially for the album.

If you could be anyone for a day who would it be?
Ok, it sounds really stupid and cheesy but I would like to be God for a day. I don’t want to sound perfect but if I was God I would like to clean up the world and make sure it’s alright. I want there to be peace and understanding, no war and to make sure we take care of the earth.

Aside from music what are your other interests?

Drinking coffee… lots of coffee. I also like watching soccer and swimming. I’m a very sociable person so I love hanging out with people and being around people. I collect wine, I always make sure I get a bottle of wine from any country I visit. I also love to travel.

What music do you have on your iPod?

Well I lost my iPod but it did have Gwen Stefani, she is the best. I also like The Killers, and all the classics like Queen, Elvis and Frank Sinatra. I like a really good rock band like Queens of the Stone Age and some hip hop from the eighties like Run-D.M.C and that sort of thing.

Have you got anything exciting planned for your birthday which is coming up very soon?
I’m going to be in South Africa which I guess is exciting, though I am going for work. I’m going to be on some TV show in a club where they are going to surprise me but obviously I know about it so it’s not really a surprise, at some point we will switch of the cameras and have a drink I’m sure!
