kylie-minogue.jpgWe review Kylie Minogue's latest album, Aphrodite.

This album sees Kylie return to what she does best: frothy, fun, disco pop.  It’s an album full of dance-floor fillers, slick production and fun catchy tunes.  The first track on the album (and the first single), All the Lovers is super catchy, and will have you singing along in no time.  It reminds me of the Kylie singles of the early 2000’s, when she produced some of her biggest hits, like Spinning Around and Can’t get you out of my Head.  In this sense, the album isn’t really anything we haven’t seen before from Kylie, but she knows what style of music works for her, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

The album comes with a booklet of photos of Kylie, looking as gorgeous as ever (I cannot believe the woman is 42!)  The album also comes with plenty of cool extras including a DVD featuring the making of the All the Lovers video, and unseen live footage, plus the CD gives you access to an interview with Kylie.  Other recommended tracks on the album include Better than Today (definitely a dance-floor filler, and a feel-good track) and Cupid Boy with its thumping bass line.  The only criticism I would give is that a few of the songs do sound the same when listening to them in succession.

If you’re a Kylie fan, you’ll definitely like this, and appreciate the return to form.  If you’re not a huge Kylie fan, this album is still worth listening to – it’s the perfect soundtrack to your next girls’ night, or a great album to blast while you’re getting ready to party.
