little_boots_final_-1.jpgGloss caught up with Victoria Hesketh, better known as Little Boots while she was in Australia for her tour.

How did the name Little Boots come about?

It was a nickname from my best friend because I have really little feet. They are only size 3!

How would you describe your music?
Electronic pop.

What do you feel have been the biggest influences on your musical style?
Kate Bush and my mum. Not my mother musically, but just in my life in general.

Career highlight so far?
Playing at the Glastonbury festival in the UK. There were probably between 8,000-10,000 people. I don’t get nervous at all performing in front of crowds, I just really enjoy it.

How did you get your big break?
I used to be in an indie band called Dead Disco and we were signed to a label, so when the band split up people already knew a little about me and my foot was already in the door.

You grew up in Blackpool, do you go back?
I try, but it’s really hard to get the time because I am always travelling and on tour. I’ve just bought a house in London, so I’d really like to spend more time there.

Where do you spend most of your time?
In planes and hotel rooms.

How do you stay healthy staying on planes so much?
Yeah it is hard and all the air-conditioning can be bad for your throat. I don’t smoke. I take a lot of vitamins and drink a lot of Echinacea tea. I try to eat healthy, but I do have a few food blowouts now and again. When I’m in the hotel I try to go to the gym and swim. I think the vitamins help a lot. I try not to drink every night either – which sounds silly but it’s hard when you are socializing after a show.

Do you often get recognised on the street?
I do in England if I’m dressed up. But if I just have slobby clothes and no makeup people don’t tend to recognise me. The paparazzi here in Australia is crazy, they are everywhere, I was surprised by that, I’m in Australia, so who really cares!?

How do you chill out?
Sleep, catch up with my boyfriend. Catching up with friends and family is really important to me because I am away all the time. I like reading and gardening and I can’t wait to do my house up!

If you could be anyone in the world for a day who would it be?
Someone with absolutely NO responsibilities. Someone who didn’t have to do anything and had no pressure. I’d get bored and hate to be like that all the time, but just for one day. I’d love to be some spoiled rich brat just for a day to have pure responsibility.
