There is one serial killer who has shaped and defined police profiler Tony Hill's life. A serial killer whose evil surpasses all others, and has the power to chill Tony to the bone - Jacko Vance.

Now Jacko is back in Tony's life. Even more twisted and cunning than ever before, he is focused on wreaking revenge on Tony - and DCI Carol Jordan - for the years he has spent in prison.

Tony doesn't know when Jacko will strike, or where. All he knows is that Jacko will cause him to feel fear like he has never known before and devastate his life in ways he cannot imagine...

If you like a book that has you in suspense and even has the ability to slightly scare then a Val Mcdermid novel is a must.

She is one of the most talented crime writers you will come across, most of her books are centered around criminal profiler Dr Tony Hill and Detective Chief Inspector Carol Jordan who together catch some of the most vicious killers in a fictitious city in Northern England.

As usual my life went on hold when reading this latest novel from McDermid. The story line is as addictive as the lives of the characters she writes about. I did however feel a little flat once I had read the last page and I could not work out if it was the end or just the beginning for this crime fighting duo but that’s the beauty of this author, you will always be guessing!
