Synopsis: Callie Perry is a successful family photographer living a charmed life in suburban Bedford, New York, with her adoring children and husband. Callie is completely happy in her life, getting to live out her passion of photography, and spend time with her loving family and friends. Her sister Steffi is the total opposite. Steffi has never grown up, and does not have the settled existence her sister has. She’s always been a free spirit, living in Manhattan and bouncing between jobs, and boyfriends. She’s finally discovered her calling as a chef, and works in a vegan restaurant. However, an unlikely friendship that blossoms between Steffi and a customer leads her to a simpler life in the country; a life which Steffi finds surprisingly appealing.
Fans (including me) are counting down to the release of Sex & the City 2 in June, so I was so excited when a copy of Sex & the City author Candace Bushnell’s new book The Carrie Diaries landed on my desk. I am a big fan of the TV series and film, but have never read the books themselves so I was intrigued so see what Bushnell’s writing style was like.
When the opportunity to interview Kelvin Cruickshank, one of the more well-known psychics on TV2’s hit Sensing Murder, presented itself at the Gloss office, I approached it with both trepidation and intrigue. When it comes to beliefs, I err on the side of science and consequently couldn’t shake a certain amount of scepticism when it came to researching for this article. But I myself have had bizarre encounters with things that go bump in the night, as so many people have. Which makes it harder to explain things away with logic.
Gloss Staffer, Sheree, gives her always candid and honest book reviews for April. This month, we have two tales focused on complex female protagonists and the trials and tribulations that come with being a woman.
