dove-pink-star-walk.jpgAround 3,000 women, men and children turned out dressed in pink on Saturday night to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Dove Pink Star Walk in Auckland Domain.

Setting of at 7pm, The Domain was a glow of pink as friends, families, parents and children came together for the leisurely 5km walk which was followed by music and entertainment as well as a pink fireworks display to end the night.

Funds raised from the Dove Pink Star Walk will go towards helping The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation continue vital research for prevention and cure. Each year, more than 2,600 New Zealand women are diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 600 women tragically die from the disease.

Anshika Grover, Brand Manager for Dove, said, “Most people have been affected by breast cancer in some way, whether it is a wife, a mother, a sister, a friend or someone suffering from breast cancer themselves.

“Dove is proud to be celebrating five years of supporting The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation and helping in the fight against breast cancer and it was so fantastic to see so many people out supporting this worthy cause last night.”

Over the past five years Dove, a Pink Ribbon Platinum Partner of The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, has raised more than $285,000 for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, through its annual Dove Pink Star Walk and limited edition Dove Pink Range, and is committed to supporting the charity’s efforts in fighting the disease.

Suzanne McNicol, Marketing and Communications Manager of The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, said, “Investments in research and medical support do improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment offered to women with breast cancer.

“While we wait for a cure it is research that enables doctors to answer the questions that affect our survival rate.

“It is so important to have the support of partners such as Dove and we enjoyed celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Dove Pink Star Walk.”

In addition to the Dove Pink Star Walk, Dove is also continuing a range of Dove Pink Products with a percentage of the proceeds going to support The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
