Once upon a time I was the girl who would peer at her friends’ beautifully manicured nails and wish mine looked as good, if not better. Their nails were always perfectly shaped and there was not a do-it-yourself paint job in sight – apart from mine of course!

Now, I’m the girl everyone asks, “Far out, where did you get your nails done? They are amazing!” I simply tell them “I’ve been Minxed by Leah Light.”

So what is Minx and how does one get Minxed?

Minx is the latest nail trend to hit our shores and with international celebrities such as Lady Gaga and Katy Perry already fans, and local celebrities such as Keisha Castle–Hughes and Amber Pebble’s flashing their Minx nails it’s sure to catch on here. Just like it has in other parts of the world.

As an alternative to nail polish the flexible film strips are applied with heat and pressure only. The whole process is very quick and easy, I liked that a lot. From start to finish, it took Leah approximately 30 minutes to transform my nails from drab to fab!

 This time, I chose the ‘Fishnet Red’ design and I’m already thinking which design I will go for next. The selection of colours and designs is incredible, there’s something for everyone. You can even Minx your toenails! 

Depending on how well you care for your fingernails on average the strips will last about four to seven days and four to six weeks on your toes.

Natalie decided to mix it up a bit and try the Artistic Nail Designs Colour Gloss Soak-Off Gel System with a single Minx feature nail on each hand.

Colour Gloss has been created by celebrity manicurist, Tom Bachik whose clients include Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez.  The super-shiny gel polish lasts up to three weeks and its high-shine finish and super fast drying time sets it apart from any other products on the market. Under a 30 watt LED light each coat takes only 30 seconds to dry – incredible and the results are stunning.

Natalie and I both love our fancy new nails and looking forward to our next visit from Leah.
