photo_4_resized.jpgPut up your hand if you’ve been cursed with fine, limp hair that has a mind of its own!

Put it down again if you’ve learnt how to achieve perfect ‘bedroom hair’ or add glamorous waves to straight hair.

If your hand is still up, it’s time to listen up!

Gloss caught up with hairstylist to the stars Kevin Murphy and he shared with us some of his secret styling tips – thanks Kevin!

Bedroom Hair
To achieve the bedroom hair look on fine hair apply a light curl enhancing lotion(Motion Lotion) to damp hair and scrunch with the use of a dryer and a diffuser.

Keep scrunching until the hair is really dry and while the hair is still warm pile it up into a shower cap and leave for approx. 10 minutes.

The cooling down of the hair is the important part and the shower cap gives the roots lift and sets in an irregular fashion.

Once the hair has cooled apply a little (or a tiny bit) more product and the result will be a messy curl that looks rather undone and sexy

Add glamorous waves to straight hair:
Apply a setting lotion to damp hair (Anti.Gravity) and dry it in until your hair is dry. You will need to use a medium sized hot curling iron and hair curlers to reinforce and hold the curl.

Begin at the sides rolling each section from the ends working or rolling the hair up to the roots. As you do each section with the curling iron you must place it quickly into a roller so that the hair cools around the roller.

Roll the top back, roll the sides and back down. Avoid making a part. Once you have let the hair cool take out your rollers and comb in with a wide tooth comb.

Your hair will part naturally so give it a few minutes to settle, once settled spray over lightly with a bit of spray to make sure the style holds (Session.Spray).
