ImageGoing grey as you get older is not the most enjoyable experience. Hair stylist Petra Rijnbeek from Rodney Wayne has some expert tips to help you handle the greying process the graceful way...

Dear Petra,

My hair is brown - in a layered bob but I have a problem - I am getting grey rather quickly! When I colour my hair, within two weeks one can see the re-growth. Should I go lighter or have lowlights to counter this?

Hi there,

I know only too well this complaint and it can be a 'bug-bare' but there are two solutions.

1: You want to slowly go grey and keep it looking natural

If so, start to lowlight the same colour heavily and ask your Rodney Wayne stylist to slowly bring you into 'normal' amounts of low-lighting. This will end up in a blended result similar to Dianne Keaton.

2:You don't want to see any grey and you want to hide the horrific re-growth

Stay with the same base shade on the re-touch , but ask your Rodney Wayne colourist to weave a top section of foils through your hair.

You will need to make sure that the foils are a clean cream blonde - any warmth and you won’t achieve blend!

This technique will disguise the grey coming through and break up the 'line' that you are experiencing.

Happy coloring!!!
